Session learning objectives:

At the conclusion of these Grand Rounds, participants will be able to

  1. Explain the legal and functional framework of occupational health.
  2. Explain the financial structure of the WSIB and how it pertains to how workers are reimbursed and claim health benefits.
  3. Identify red flags in an occupational history that may prolong an injury.
  4. Develop an approach to providing a safe return to work plan that is best for the worker.
  5. State the benefits of early return to work for injured workers.
  6. Recall the resources to be used by family physicians when encountering occupational medicine issues.
