Past event: Preventing Diabetes-Related Foot Complications for Regulated Care Providers

Participate in Best Foot Forward: Diabetic Foot Care Training

Introduction to identifying and reducing the risk of foot complications for people living with diabetes (PLWD)

Date: Wednesday, March 18, 2026

Time: 11am – 3pm

Location: Innovation Works – 201 King St., London ON

In this free 4-hour session, you will learn to:

  • Screen and assess foot health to identify skin, nail, circulation, nerve, and structural concerns.
  • Identify risks and take action by recognizing warning signs, checking footwear, and reporting concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Support prevention through education by teaching people with diabetes how to care for and monitor their feet daily.

Target audience: all regulated care providers, such as nurses, dieticians, OTs and PTs, and others

Light lunch and refreshments will be available.

After the training, you will have the option to join a one-hour Focus Group Discussion. In this session, they will invite you to share your experiences with foot problems and foot care, including how you seek help in your community or from health services. They want to learn from your real-life experiences to better understand how people decide to get care, what makes it easier or harder to get help, and where there may be gaps or opportunities to improve support.

The Focus Group Discussion will be held virtually at a date and time that works best for participants. Those who choose to take part will receive a $30 gift card as a thank-you for their time.

For questions or to sign up for the research session please contact CAPE by Friday, March 6th by email: [email protected]
